Drawn Agency to receive the 2019 Dave Hauser Business Patron of the Year Award

Arts & Business Alliance of Eugene’s Business Patron of the Year Award recognizes one business each year for its notable contribution to the local arts community

EUGENE, OREGON (May 28, 2019) — Drawn Agency is honored to be the recipient of this year’s Dave Hauser Business Patron of the Year Award. Each year, the Business Patron of the Year Award recognizes a local business that has demonstrated consistent and significant support of the creation and presentation of art in our community. The generosity of this business ensures that local creativity and innovation will thrive, regardless of economic climate. Drawn, a Eugene-based design agency, will be acknowledged at Arts & Business Alliance of Eugene (ABAE)’s BRAVA Breakfast on Friday, May 31, 2019, along with several other outstanding members of the Eugene arts community.

For 20 years, Drawn’s small team of creatives has worked at crafting meaningful experiences and memorable brands to which people naturally feel drawn. There is no simple category to define the work that Drawn does, which includes experience design, service design, visual design, and finding design-based solutions for all manner of problems, both locally and internationally. What remains consistent is that the agency brings a unique curiosity and holistic mentality to everything it does. Drawn pushes design to its fullest potential, defining it in the broadest, most useful way. Drawn also uses its craft to contribute to a more vibrant community here in Eugene.

In 2017, the agency moved from a small (but beloved), office in the 5th Street Market to its current headquarters at 545 Monroe Street in Eugene. “The Bard” (Drawn HQ) encompasses 5,000 square feet of space that’s specifically designed to encourage artistic creation and outside-the-box thinking. Within the Bard’s walls, the Drawn team ideates, solves problems, designs, develops, builds, shoots, and sends the end products out into the world. The building is more of a flexible makerspace than an office and it perfectly illustrates how human-centered design can be used to create compelling digital and analog experiences.

Drawn is proud of the Bard and grateful for what often feels like a surplus of inspiring square footage, so the agency often shares the building with other local creatives. In the 15 months since the Bard opened its doors, Drawn has hosted a play production that included a three-course meal for more than 100 attendees, a movie film crew, a film premiere with Eugene Contemporary Arts, and regular board meetings for two separate non-profits. On top of opening the Bard up to local artists, Drawn has mentored two high school students and two University of Oregon students. This past January, the agency worked with Lane Arts Council to present a prototyping workshop for Eugene students who were interested in product design.

Arts & Business Alliance of Eugene’s BRAVA Breakfast will be held at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, May 31, 2019, from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.
